Leading Worship

Although worship has been a part of my life since childhood, I first felt the call for leading worship several years ago at a very defining time in my life.

I was asking the Lord to show me what my purpose and calling was.

He began to plant this huge desire in my heart for worship that began to absolutely captivate my heart. I couldn’t get enough! I wanted to turn on worship music morning, noon and night.
Every moment of every day…I felt drawn towards the presence of God like never before.

I had given my life to Christ at a very young age and had always loved Him. But, I can remember waking up one day with the realization that I didn’t just want to passively serve God…I wanted to serve God with passion!  It became the theme of all my prayers and really the theme of my life that year. I was seventeen at the time and that year became such a defining year in my life.

I asked God to take my dreams and replace them with His dreams for my life.  I cannot begin to tell you how amazing it was when He began to do just that.

A heart for missions and ministry and worship was really birthed in me and it grew daily.

Living with Passion for the Lord and for His house absolutely changed me completely!!!

When I turned twenty I began trying to teach myself how to play the guitar. It was a struggle to figure out a few chords without a teacher…but once I did…I started hearing songs in my heart all the time.

I began to start writing these songs down…just simple words from my heart to God’s.

 At about the same time…my Mom and my sister, Charity and I began helping to lead worship at a small church in our town. During that time God began to really teach me what it really meant to lead worship and the call behind it.

About two years ago God lead us to my “home away from home”…an amazing church right here in our hometown that is thriving…growing and flourishing.  I felt this overwhelming sense of “this is where I am called to be” as soon as I walked in the doors of our church.
 
It has been in this church that the greatest growth has taken place in my heart and life and worship. God put me under some amazing teachers…and it is because He used them that I am leading worship there today.

They believed in me…they trained me…they invested their time into me…I will always be grateful for that!!!!

Really the call to worship is a call that we all have!!!!  It’s what we were created by God to do. Leading worship for me has been life changing in many ways. But, worshiping is for us all!! 

Everyday I stand amazed at how God could use a simple young girl…but everyday…I want my life to say…”Here I am….use me.” Go Back
